Omega 3 Fish Oil has been well documented to have many beneficial effects on overall health. However, a recent study of 819 people published in the journal Alzheimer’s and Dementia, showed that regular consumption of fish oil supplements caused a significant reduction in both brain atrophy and cognitive function in older adults.
The studies were done using both psychological testing and MRI analysis of brain gray matter. In the test subjects who had normal cognitive function, less brain shrinkage was observed in those subjects who took fish oil supplements.
The summary article for this study can be found here.
I recommend 3,000 mg of Omega 3 Fish Oil daily, containing both the essential fatty acids EPA and DHA. The supplements that I prefer to work with that will give you that amount of Omega 3 Fish Oil can be found here.
